Meet the Parrhesians

Nathanael Devlin

Nate is a native of Pittsburgh and a graduate of Geneva College (B.A., 1998) and Trinity School for Ministry (Master of Divinity, 2005 and Doctor of Ministry, 2012). Nate served at Beverly Heights Presbyterian Church for 19 years, as a seminary intern, Assistant Pastor, Associate Pastor, and Senior Pastor.  His passion is the formation of Christ in the lives of God’s people.

In addition to serving as an adjunct at Trinity School for Ministry, Nate is a contributor to Touchstone Magazine.  Nate is married to Holly, who teaches at the Beverly Heights Christian Preschool. They have three children, Hannah, Nathan, and Abigail.

Kyle Bennett

Kyle has a Ph.D. in Theology and taught Theology and Ethics for a number of years. He then got a tenure-track position as a Philosophy professor for another number of years. During that time he founded an institute to train young leaders. You can dig a little deeper into the nerdy things here.

His first book, Practices of Love: Spiritual Disciplines for the Life of the Worldwas published in August of 2017. It was translated into Korean in 2019.

Kyle likes writing, giving talks, preaching sermons, being a coffee snob, reading fairy tales to his kids, watching psychological thrillers, boxing, working on his photography game, and wrestling with his kids. Kyle has a BarSmarts certificate in spirits and mixology, so he likes mixing cocktails. Especially for people who like nerding out over Christ and His Church.  Kyle has been married to his wife Andrea for twenty years.

Peter Chace

Peter Chace ministers to youth, young adults, and college students through Beverly Heights Presbyterian Church in partnership with the CCO.

Peter is a graduate of Duquesne University (2009), and is currently working towards his Master of Divinity from Trinity School for Ministry.

Peter, his wife Sarah, and their five children live in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania.

Tom left a 40-year career in the news business for “good news” in 2018.

Tom O’Boyle

Born in New Jersey, son of a fire chief and raised Roman Catholic, Tom accepted the Lord at the age of 7. He then began a “Methobapterian” journey in which he was led to Norman Vincent Peale; Methodist and Baptist churches; C.S. Lewis; and finally to his spiritual home in the Reformed tradition of the Presbyterian confession. He and wife Louise have been members of Beverly Heights since 1994.

Along with Senior Pastor Nate Devlin, Tom is co-host of “The Scattered Seeds Podcast.”

A 1978 graduate of Allegheny College in Meadville and Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, he joined the staff of The Wall Street Journal in 1981 and was the paper’s correspondent in Germany in the final days of the Berlin Wall. He joined the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in 1994 as assistant managing editor. In his 25 years there, he worked as a senior editor in the newsroom and on the business side in content, digital strategy, marketing and audience development.

While at the Post-Gazette, a photography project he supervised won a Pulitzer Prize in 1998.

The author of “At Any Cost: Jack Welch, General Electric, and the Pursuit of Profit,” Tom taught journalism and multimedia storytelling for two decades at Duquesne and Carnegie Mellon universities.

An elder and past member of Session, he teaches in the Adult Christian Education program, which he supervises as part of his duties. He sings in the adult choir along with Louise, a teacher in the church’s preschool.

They are the parents of three adult children: Brendan; Erin Westgate; and Cara Webster; and the grandparents of Charlie, Mae and Georgina Webster and Sommer Westgate. Cara and husband Ben are members of Beverly Heights. Erin Westgate and husband Scott also live in Mt. Lebanon.
